Travel envy.
I just talked to a friend that is leaving this week for Russia and Turkey. She will be traveling for three weeks with our mutual friend that has been teaching there. They are going to visit St. Petersburg, Moscow and Istanbul.
I’m getting the traveling bug. It has been just over a year since I returned from the U.K., but it feels like much longer. I can’t wait to dust off the ol’ passport and see more of this beautiful earth. If things go as planned, my next departure will be in November. It can’t come too soon.

Ah Erin...
Isn't it strange how we can travel to another plot of land and have our outlook/lives changed? praise God for making & loving people, huh?
great website by the way:)
Love,
Tiff
I'm rather envious that you are in possession of such an opportunity. Granted, I'm sure that I should be making the time and effort to go travel a bit, but it would take financial resources that I don't quite have at this juncture of my life.
However, I'm not sure that I would even go travel for pleasure these days. When I talk to people at my church and learn about all of the worldwide ministries in which we are involved, I mentally/spiritually find myself going on 1-,2-, or 3-week mission trips instead of just "vacationing".
Granted, I'd love to spend lots of time traveling throughout New England, Ireland, Scotland, England, and Eastern Europe, but I'd also love to go serve with some missionaries in the Western Sahara or Nicaragua.
What to do....
But, if you decide where you're going in November, let me know and I'll start saving up so I can join you. What are your thoughts on Ireland or Poland?
I've been to Ireland, although not Northern Ireland. Poland would be fantastic.
November will (hopefully) be Uganda and Sudan to visit two orphanages that my community group has been sponsoring. I am blessed to have friends that are directly connected to the local aid workers in that region. Check the information at www.lahash.net. Work obligations limit my trip to two weeks, but I hope it is the start of some lasting friendships.
I was in the U.K. to study, so I have yet to travel exclusively for leisure. May I always be so fortunately spared!
Tiff,
Yes, changing scenery changes minds.
I'm glad you found my site! I'll look forward to your good feedback in the future. :)
Erin
I know the feeling of travel envy, and I envy your plans to visit Sudan! Even for a couple of weeks. If I could go to just one place right now, it would be to Khartoum.
Well then....
Small world it seems....
I have a friend of mine who's the personal assistant to the pastor of my church & she's planning to go on a 2 or 3 week trip either in August or the Fall sometime to the Western Sahara (our church has some missionaries over there), Sudan, and Northern Ireland. Again, as with your trip, I would like to go, but God has other plans for me right now I think -- Getting a real job, growing up a bit (or a lot), and trusting Him a bit more....
