One moment please.

This week has been a little bit crazy for me. Every day has been filled to the absolute brim. I haven't had much time for reflection or sleep. But the weekend starts now; and, although I have things to do, I have a more flexible schedule to work within.

........

Here's an interesting article about a young poet in Nigeria.

And why do you do this to us, Pat? Why?
........

My eyeball was twitching at one point this afternoon. It was a very strange sensation. I think that it may have had something to do with the triple shot Americano that I sold my soul to this morning.

Coffee is evil.

And disgusting.

i've noticed that my left eye twitches when it gets tired these days. i susupect that it doesn't like my glasses but that may be because this is my first experience with corrective eye wear and i'm outrageously paranoid that my eyes were misdiagnosed and that my glasses are now making my vision siginficatly worse.

that's pretty unrelated, i notice. i guess i just felt like i needed to tell someone about my concerns about my vision. the end.

Skor- Coffee isn't evil; it is just misunderstood.

David!- You have glasses now? Do you have to wear them all the time? I've had to wear corrective lenses for 13 years. Welcome to the magnificent, myopic world!

yeah, i got glasses this summer. it was a not-so-secret childhood (and adolescent and so on) dream to have them and i'll admit it: i love fidgeting with them and looking all studious. but the appoitment which led to me being prescribed was the last one of the day and the assistant person was extremely impatient so i'm not sure if my prescription is exactly... helping.

You have GOT to read Memoir From Antproof Case by Mark Helprin http://www.markhelprin.com/index.cfm?page=overview&start=1&pid=11

The book spurred a two week hiatus from coffee (yes, i returned, but still...). A hatred of coffee - the smell, the production, the drinking of - is central to the incredible story of one man's life.

David- Maybe they'll let you get them re-checked for free. I've heard of that happening.
I used to want glasses also, and I got my wish at the ripe age of ten. They told me that the pink plastic frames brought out the color in my cheeks. I call it the beginning of "the phase."

Karin- I'd like to read it. How did you stumble upon such a work?

Since Mark Helprin happens to be your brother's favorite author Erin, I'm sure that he would let you borrow the book if you really want to read it.
